Electricity in Science

Vicki Haley and Maureen Bogowitz, science teachers at Athens Intermediate School, were awarded a $1,000 grant from the Athens Public Education Foundation in late 2013. With the grant money Ms. Haley and Ms. Bogowitz have been able to purchase lab equipment such as static tubes, energy bars, circuit light bulbs, etc. to conduct experiments to help students to learn how electricity works. Ms. Haley and Ms. Bogowitz have also been able to purchase several books containing exciting experiment ideas to explore life sciences, earth science, physical science and lab science. These teachers are using their grant money to make science fun, exciting and hands-on. Up next on the agenda is creating a potato clock!
